Chapter 11:Two Girls, one Hiccup

Hiccup’s guilt weighed down on him like a stone as he turned around, and saw that ever familiar blue, bird like Deadly Nadder; Storm Fly. And on her back, the blonde, tough, never says no to a fight warrior known as Astrid.

“Hiccup!” Astrid said, excitedly, hopping off of Storm Fly, hugging him so hard he almost couldn’t breathe.
“OK, there goes my spine.”, he said, hearing a small crack in his back. Astrid let go of him, and planted a small kiss on him.
“I’m so glad I found you.”, she said, smiling.

“You came all the way out here to try and find me?”, Hiccup asked, a bit humbled.
“Yeah, Snotlout came along too. But then we hit a storm, and got separated.”, Astrid laughed.

“Never thought Snotlout would be concerned enough about me to come looking for me.”, Hiccup said, surprised.
“Oh, he didn’t come cause he was concerned.” Astrid said, “We had a bet on whether or not you were dead.”, she explained.
“OK, that sounds like Snotlout.”, Hiccup laughed.

Suddenly, an arrow whizzed past Astrid’s head, landing in the lake behind her. “What do ye think yer doing with m’ date?”, Merida asked, another arrow at the ready.
“What do you mean your date?”, Astrid asked, pushing Hiccup out of the way. “I’m Hiccup’s girlfriend, who are you?”, she asked, going for the axe slung around her waist.

“I’m Merida,”, she answered, “Princess of Dun Broch.”
“Well, excuse me, your highness.” Astrid snapped, walking closer, “But that Viking’s taken, go find your own boyfriend.”
“I’ll fight ye for ‘im.”, Merida said, aiming her bow at Astrid’s chest. “Ye spike covered barbarian.”

“I-I’m not sure I’m comfortable being used as a trophy.”, Hiccup reasoned.
“Oh, you want a fight?”, Astrid asked, raising her voice, ignoring Hiccup. She unsheathed her axe, “Let’s do it.”

“BRING IT!”, Merida shouted. She shot the arrow, which Astrid blocked with her axe. Again, Merida shot, Astrid blocked, again, again, and again, until Merida reached for an arrow, and there were none left.
She threw her bow to the ground, and drew her sword. “Let’s see ye block this, blondie.”, she growled, and charged.

Hiccup, Toothless, and Storm Fly all watched as the two girls clashed weapons. The sound of clashing metal rang through the air, as one tried to hit the other, and the other blocked.

Merida swung, Astrid blocked, then kicked Merida in the stomach, went for the swing. Merida got up barely in time to block it. Again, the weapons clashed for a bit, and it seemed like an even match, until Merida got past Astrid’s axe, and slashed her left cheek, sending blood down her face.

Astrid felt her face, and saw the blood rushing onto her hand.
“OH THAT IS IT!!!”, she growled.
She rapidly beat the axe on Merida’s sword, sending the princess back with every blow. The sword bent, allowing Astrid to pry it out of Merida’s hand. She then kicked her back ten feet, and stomped her right foot on Merida’s chest.
“Listen closely, flame head,”, Astrid  said, scowling, getting low, so her face and Merida’s were three inches apart “Hiccup is mine, and no one his taking him away from me.”

“Ask him, he told me himself he had feelings fer me.”, Merida choked out.
“What?”, Astrid snarled, stepping off of Merida, and looking angrily at Hiccup.
“Astrid, I can explain.”, Hiccup said, backing up.

“I flew five hours out here looking for you,”, she said, angrily, walking towards him, “and I fight some princess just to hear that my boyfriend has feelings for her?”
“Now, I didn’t exactly say…that I had feelings for her.”, Hiccup said, defensively.
“But you said you liked me.”, Merida said, standing up, trying to wipe the boot print off her dress.

“Well, yeah,” Hiccup stuttered, “I… I did.”, he admitted, sheepishly.
“Hiccup.”, Astrid said, shocked. “So that’s it?”, she asked him, disgusted, “That’s it, then, you’re dumping me? Trading me in for a fellow royal? I expected more from you, Hiccup.”, she said, walking over to Storm Fly.

“What? No, Astrid, please, that’s not what’s happening here, you don’t understand, just give me a chance to explain.”, Hiccup begged.
“No, I understand perfectly.”, Astrid said, mounting Storm Fly. “You want to be with her? Fine by me, because we’re through.”

Those last few words stabbed Hiccup in the heart like a knife.
“Astrid, please, don’t do this, it’s not what it looks like!”, Hiccup said, as she turned around to take off.
“Then what is it, Hiccup?”, Merida asked, suddenly sounding as angry as Astrid.

“Well, I…” Hiccup went to say something, but the words wouldn’t leave his mouth.
“Goodbye, Hiccup.”, Astrid said, “See you back home, if you ever come back.”, and she took off on her dragon.
Hiccup fell to his knees on the dock, not believing what just happened.
Toothless came up, and sat down sadly beside him.

They both watched as Astrid rode into the night sky, disappearing just beyond the horizon. After a few minutes, Merida came up beside him, and put her hand on his shoulder.

“C’mon, now, Hiccup.”, she said, comfortingly, “If she can’t see what a great guy she had, well, that just proves how much of a bull headed stubborn Viking she really is.”

“Thank you, for summing that up.”, Hiccup said, rolling his eyes.
“Let’s get back to the castle.”, Merida said, yawning. “It’s getting late, and I think we could all use a good night’s rest.”, she said, hopping back onto Toothless, who sadly stood up.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.”, Hiccup sighed. He mounted the front seat of the saddle. “Alright, bud, back to the castle.”, he said, and they took off.
Yep, the cat fight everyone wanted is finally here. :iconcatfightplz: pretty shocking twist ending, huh? :ninjaplot: Hey, in order to have Mericcup, I had to get rid of Hiccstrid, and since I didn't want to kill Astrid off, here's what we're left with. Anyway, enjoy, comment, fave, and give me a review on what you think of it. ^_^
