Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons
Chapter1:A day off

Here it was, the day Jack looked forward to every month; his day off. Every guardian needed to get a day to himself for a while, so, today he was out gliding on the wind, letting it take him where ever it took him. And for some reason, today the wind chose to take him over a forest. A forest that he himself had never seen before, (and trust me when I say, Jack’s been around the world a few times), so he just went with the wind, since he didn’t know his way around.

Suddenly, in the distance he saw an island, as he flew closer he saw that the island was one big hill, and on that hill was a village, and at the very top of that hill, was a castle.

He found a bridge that connected the island to the main land, and the wind dropped him off there. Shrugging, he walked down the bridge to the village which was teeming with villagers, shops, and was decorated with purple banners with a picture of a golden sun on them.  Jack assumed it was the kingdom’s crest.

In the center of town, was a huge mural. Two parents, and one baby were in it. The parents were dressed in regal clothing, and had crowns on their heads, so, Jack concluded that they were the King and Queen, and the baby, a girl with green eyes and long blonde hair, must have been the princess. People seemed to be gathering around it, so jack decided to get a closer look.

“This must be a hard time for their majesties.”, he heard one villager say.

“I know.”, said another. “Their daughter’s 18th birthday is within days, and she’s not even here to celebrate it.”

“Well, let’s just hope the princess is alright wherever she is.”  said the first, and they walked on, sadly.

“What was that all about?”, Jack asked himself.

“I can answer that one for you”,  said a woman’s voice behind him.

He jumped. Someone had heard him, seen him? He turned around and saw a woman about in her thirties wearing a red dress with a green travel cloak over it. Her eyes were shadowy, and her lips crimson as an apple. Her hair, black and curly, and poofy, almost like a perm.  He assumed this was who spoke up.

“Are you talking to me?”, he asked, making sure.

“Of course, darling,” the woman answered, in her British accent. “Now, to answer your question, it’s a rather long story, but to make it short and simple, her majesty the queen, was about to have a child, but she got terribly sick, most people thought she wouldn’t make it,” the woman reminisced.  “but by a miracle, they were able to heal her, and the princess was born healthy and beautiful. But, the night the princess was born, some horrid person snuck into her room, and just like that, the princess was gone. Their majesties were only able to see the kidnapper’s face as she swooped out of sight.” she said, tragically, “and to this day, no one knows where she is.”

“Wow,”, Jack said, looking at the mural, taking in the story.

“Yes, a tragic tale”, the woman said, sadly, “well, sorry to leave so suddenly, but we all have errunds to run, now don’t we?”, the woman chuckled, “tootle-ooh.” and she strolled towards the bridge.
“So, wait,” Jack said, suddenly.

The woman stopped “Yes dear?”, she asked, turning around.

“If the king and queen saw the face of the kidnapper, did they ever figure out who it was?”, he asked.

“Oh, no I don’t think they’ll ever find out who exactly it was.”, the woman said, “but their majesties did say that they saw the face, and it was that of an old, disgusting hag of a woman.”  the woman said, shuddering. “Well, if that’s all you wish to know, I’ll be on my way. So long.”, the woman said in a sing-song voice, and she strolled off.

Jack stood there, and stared at the mural, why exactly, he didn’t know. He thought about the story. There was still something missing,

“Hey, so how did the queen get…” he looked around, but the woman was gone, “better?”

Suddenly, the wind picked him up, and carried him across the bridge, and over the forest.

“Hey, what gives, where are we…WHOA!” the wind suddenly pulled him down, he was about to hit the ground, he braced for impact, but the wind stopped him, and eased him down the last ten feet. When the world stopped spinning, and he regained his balance, he looked around to see where he was, he seemed to be somewhere in the middle of the forest. “What the… where?”

The wind gave a sudden gust, and took him to a tangled up mess of vines. Seeing Jack was confused, the wind gave a small breeze towards them.
“Alright, if you say so.”, jack shrugged, walking through the vines.

There was a short tunnel, and on the other side, was a huge canyon. It had trees, high rocks that seemed maybe 200 feet high enclosed it, a water fall that ran into a stream, and right by the stream in the center of it all was…
“A tower?”
Yep. Here's the first (of many, trust me) chapter of my RotBTD fan fiction. I've finally contributed to the fandom!! :la: Anyway, characters belong to their respective owners, and all that jazz.
